Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong signed a decision on March 1, 2017, to stop importing a number of agricultural products from India.
Viet Nam will temporarily halt imports of peanuts (Arachis
hypogaea) from Senegal after nearly 1,000 tonnes of a recent shipment
were found to contain beetles.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development suspended peanut
imports from India after detecting the Caryedon Serratus Olivier insect
in some shipments.
Authorities in the Cuu Long (Mekong) River Delta are planning to switch
from low-yield rice to higher-value crops like maize, sesame, peanut,
soybean, and others on 112,000ha by 2015, the Crop Production Department
has said.
